Cookbook creator says: Instead of using cinnamon as a topping, add it into the recipe when mixing. One review suggested cutting the brown sugar in half and using a mashed banana in the recipe. Not sure about cutting the sugar, but adding the banana sounds delicious. Maybe add flax seed as well for extra fiber.
