i would never have thought that storing certain vegetables or fruit together could speed the process of them going bad (over ripe)

THERE ARE OTHERS WHO HAVE POSTED THIS COMMENT ALSO; WHAT DO WE DO WITH ALL OF THE ITEMS THAT ARE LISTED ON THE CHART IN BLACK PRINT? YOU DIDN'T GIVE ANY SPECIFICATIONS FOR THIS COLOR IN THE ARTICLE INTRODUCTION. SOMEONE PLEASE POST AN APPROPRIATE ANSWER HERE! THANK YOU TO WHOMEVER HELPS HERE.ALSO, IN RESPONSE TO STORING HERBS IN A GLASS OF WATER IN THE FRIDGE. IT IS A BAD IDEA! I TOO, HAVE TRIED TO STORE VARIOUS HERBS THIS WAY. THEY ALL HAVE FIED A TERRIBLE SLIMY, BLACK & WITHERED UP DEATH WITHIN 2-4 DAYS. IT IS MUCH BETTER TO CLEAN/RINSE THEM IN A COLANDER. LET THOROUGHLY DRAIN. POUR ONTO PAPERTOWELS & LIGHTLY PAT DRY LAY OUT A DOUBLE LAYER OF Papertowels flat, put an even layer of herbs onto towels & gently roll/fold up so that the towel piece3 will fit into your ziploc bag. store in the veggie crisper until needed. they last forever this way as the towels absorb the moisture. change the towels out as they become damp.

I am so glad to learn how to store fruits and vegetables properly. I have always figured they all kinda went in the refridgerator. Thanks again!

I stored my iceburg lettuce in the blue recycling bags you get free from the store and it keeps my lettuce fresh for twice as long. I guess it's the cheaper version of the green bags.

My mother had strongly recommended green bags. They are one of those "as seen on TV" products and I was unsure if they would work. She found some at Bed Bath and Beyond for around $10 and she loved them. I went and got some and now I would swear by them as well. My produce truly does stay fresher for longer periods of time. The only thing I would not reccomend to put in them is bananas.

A GREAT way to store herbs is in a plastic ziplock bag with a piece of paper towel in there with them. The towel soaks up the extra moisture that forms on the herbs.

Storing my herbs in a glass covered with a plastic bag caused them to wilt and mold. I lost all of them only 4 days after buying. I would not advise covering the herbs.

I printed the chart. It is really helpful when you bring stuff home from the store and need to now how to store it. Groceries are so expensive these days that it is a shame to waste any of them.

Thank you for your help,
