I want to be like Jerry but am just like 1LazyCook. I make so many plans and have so many things I think I want to do that even if I live to be 100 I'll never get them all done---so most of the time I don't finish any of them. I tend to start lots of things, finishing is the problem. I plan my week and by Wednesday (which is today) I notice that most of the plans are not being followed through with. Now I see I need to not make so many plans and finish the ones I know are the most important. Making a daily list may be more helpful.

I've always procrastinated but it has really gotten out of control in the last few years....yes, years. My exercising is one of my procrastination "excuses"...who has time/energy for exercise and all the things I'm putting off doing? That's what I tell myself. I get all excited and put a plan together but then.......

Being a Libra I am a natural born procrastinator. This article so rings true for me. I will certainly try to be better and go with the old saying don't put off for tomorrow what you can do today

I don't know when I stopped putting off daily chores. I think it was when my wife told me to put things back in the place in which I found them. I once had items all over the house. I now act like a postal worker and procrastination seems to be in the past.

"Procrastination is a nasty beast."
Oh so very true.... It almost felt as though you wrote my story for me! I've learned a few things on how to change these bad habits, but i'm definitely still working on it.

This was a great article. It nailed a key part of my life (how most of us procrastinate because we're stressed, leading to worse procrastination). Currently I'm in such a rut with that :( Bookmarking this piece. It's always calming to see a step to step (non-judgmental!) guide to dealing with this.

Unfortunately, I also have this problem. As my excuse, I always say that I like working under stress, but it's clearly untrue. I'm just a lazy person. But before I read the last paragraph of the article, I did my morning tasks without complaining, so it's a great start. Thank you for writing this article!

I love this article. I love to know about people who have cleaned up their procrastination and life. I feel so bad about myself when I'm procrastinating, which is always :( so I need to change that right now.

Oh yes! This is definitely a big problem for me - and it goes in waxing and waning cycles - good days and bad weeks!!

I've done it all the time........ I do laundry and fold it and put it in a pile...... I'll put it away later....... I end up wearing the stuff off the pile........ I do the next weeks laundry and add to the growing pile..... next thing I know is there is no other place to put the laundry and there is this huge pile of clean folded clothes that need put away........ I bring something home and put it on the table.... then something else is added.... and something else.... until there is no place to eat at the table unless you put away all the stuff on it....... and the list goes on

I retired May 1st and I'm on a mission....... to clean up and de-clutter my house....... and when laundry is done it's put away...... no excuses..... no later......... so far I've cleaned and organized my kitchen and living room.......... and I'm pleased with my accomplishments..... it feels good..... no more procastinating.........

I"m sick and tired of not getting around to do the things (to our house) that we've wanted to do FOREVER. So, today we made plans and set dates and goals to accomplish one of those tasks we've put off. It feels so good to have an action plan! Action is the key, talk is not worth much.
