Green smoothies are simple about 2 min in the blender. These give tons of energy and builds up the immunities in the cells. Immunities fight off infections and the body heals intself or at least improves the conditions. If you wants tons of energy throughout the day and a clean colon-----DRINK GREEN SMOOTHIES. Here is one recipe: 2 bananas, 2 cups water, 2 slices fresh ginger, 2 icecubes, honey to taste, cinnomen to taste. Puree all this and then add fresh baby spinach leaves 3/4 of blender pitcher. Puree again till spinach greens are broken down. Drink up. Store rest in covered jar and carry with you. whenever you need a shot of energy, shake the smoothie and drink up. Lasts 1-2 days.

Here in Hawaii there are several smoothie place that I have not seen back home in MA. Smoothies are an awesome non-guilt trip. If you have not tried them yet, step into your nearst spot and just take a look at the menu. You will be impressed!

I agree that the best smoothies are creamy. I can't stand it when they are too thin or too icy. That's why i don't add ice to my smoothies. Frozen fruit is the way for me!

We are all smoothie fans at my house. When the kids have friends over, they ask for smoothies, especially on hot summer days. Our favorite is vanilla yogurt (low fat), frozen mixed berries, and a little skim milk (to thin the smoothie for easier sipping through straws!). During the school year, smoothies are my on the go breakfast. When nice and thick, they are tasty topped with Kashi GoLean crunch cereal, too!

Cottage cheese or part-skim ricotti also add a nice texture plus protein in your fruit smoothie. I also add 1 Tbsp. flaxseed seed ground in my smoothie.

Reading thru the comments no one mentioned adding an egg to your smoothie, its like having an eggnog for breakfast, plus you get your protein in for breakfast.

I'm surprised she didn't mention any veggie smoothies. I know, I turned up my nose the first time I heard it too, but during a detox class about a year ago, I discovered a wonderful carrot juice, cucumber, melon and mango smoothie that is so light and refreshing during the sweltering Texas summer mornings.

For a lo-cal protein boost, I add a scoop of WholeFood's Vanilla Whey Protein powder.
