BOIL WATER TO MAKE 5 SERVINGS OF GRITS MINUS 1/2 CUP (GRITS SHOULD BE A LITTLE THICK).
EMPTY GRITS INTO A SMALL MIXING BOWL ADD WATER AND GARLIC POWDER AND STIR.
OPEN THE TAMALES AND POUR THE SAUSE INTO THE GRITS MIXTURE.
ADD 3/4 CUP OF SHREDDED CHEESE AND MIX INTO THE GRITS.
I DIVIDE GRITS INTO 3 SMALL PYREX CASSAROLES SPRAYED WITH COOKING SPRAY SO I CAN HAVE THIS ON 3 SEPERATE OCCASIONS. OR YOU CAN PUT MIXTURE INTO A PYREX LOAF PAN SPRAYED WITH COOKING SPRAY. FOR SMALL CASSAROLES, BREAK TAMALE IN 1/2 AND PUSH VERTICALLY DOWN INTO THE GRITS SO JUST THE OPEN TOP OF THE GRITS MIXTURE.
SPRINKLE A LITTLE EXTRA SHREDDED CHEESE ON TOP (MAY BE ADDED LAST FEW MINUTES OF BAKING, I LIKE IT CRISPY).
YOU MAY FREEZE THE EXTRA SMALL CASSAROLES UNCOOKED BUT COVER TIGHTLY. BAKE ABOUT 375* TO 400* LONG ENOUGH TO HEAT THRU AND MAKE CHEESE BUBBLY. Submitted by INDEJAM09
