Banana Bread

Adapted from a standard recipe with the addition of flax seed meal and then reducing the amount of oilSubmitted by SCIGAL

Apple Pie Cake Balls

This is really more a compilation of recipes, since you can make the components ahead of time (it's actually best to make the cake and filling a day ahead). The "ball" mix can be frozen up to 6 months either formed or not - and they taste like apple fritter doughnut holes when rolled in cinnamon sugar!Submitted by JO_JO_BA

Fruit Butter Spice Cake

Any thick puree of fruit (or fruit and vegetables!) works for this snacking cake - I love using my Honeyed Carrot Cake Butter, but apple, peach or pear work just as well.Submitted by JO_JO_BA

Sugarless Tropical Mini Muffins

Poppyseeds, coconut, banana and orange blend seamlessly with a 7-grain pancake mix of all things to create decadent and completely sugarless puffs. Feel free to have two or three, guilt free!Submitted by JO_JO_BA

Smartie Pants Cookie Drops
Smartie Pants Cookie Drops

Yet another twist on the good ol’ chocolate chipper, this time I threw in some custard powder and Smarties (the Canadian chocolate, not the American candy!) for flavour, texture and colour! Eggless and whole-grain to boot, these are a joy for kids and adults alike. If you can’t find custard powder (like Bird’s – not the instant kind though) you can substitute measure-for-measure with cook and serve vanilla pudding. Submitted by JO_JO_BA

Healthy Horseradish Greens
Healthy Horseradish Greens

Bet you didn't know the leaves of the horseradish plant were edible! They taste like a cross between arugula and kale, and are typically given the "kale" cooking treatment - I figured why not make "horseradish chips" with it instead?Submitted by JO_JO_BA

Homemade Butterfinger Bars

Normally I abstain from any sort of candy making, but these were so simple to do (and delicious to eat) I couldn't help it! Depending on the nut or seed butter you pick, the flavour can be whatever you please. Try roasted cashew butter for a real treat!Submitted by JO_JO_BA
