Family Corn Bread

This is a veganized version of the corn bread recipe that came on the bag of cornmeal. I had been making it for awhile and then found out my husband's family had used the same recipe for years. It's sweet, northern style, and somewhat crumbly. Great in soups and chili, or for breakfast with jam.

Simple Vegan Chili

This is about the easiest method of making chili that I know of. It's great with cornbread and some veggies on the side. We almost always double or quadruple this recipe because it freezes well.

I've made some optional suggestions if you want to change things around. We always come back to the same recipe though.

Yummified Spaghetti Sauce with Vegan Parmesan

This recipe takes cheap, plain spaghetti sauce and makes it into a vegan meaty, creamy, tangy sauce.

We use Hunt's Garlic and Herb because it's the least expensive sauce you can buy that doesn't contain a lot of sugar or fat. In fact, it's pretty much the same price as buying unseasoned tomato sauce.

Split Pea Soup

This is basic split pea soup and one of my husbands favorite foods. Cooks very fast in a pressure cooker or all day in the slow cooker. We love it with biscuits, home made fries or millet cakes.

This recipe came from my friend Emmy. It's delicious! The original recipe called for 2 tsp sugar and 2 more tablespoons oil, but we find it to be great without.
