Cookbook creator says: I make this now with a little extra unbleached white flour (maybe 1/4 to 1/3 cup) to thicken the batter and make it more "bread-y". It is best hot, with a little olive oil and balsamic for dipping or slathered with a little Earth Balance.

Cookbook creator says: Very tasty. My omni husband polished off most of the 2 loaves I made. Can substitute dried cranberries or fresh or frozen blueberries for the chocolate chips to lighten up the calories and fat.

Cookbook creator says: So tasty! I couldn't believe how creamy it was with the bread in it. Next time I will remove the seeds from the tomatoes as Martha suggested. They made it a tad too bitter. Also, I can't see myself making this again until I can get red, ripe tomatoes, meaning summer!

Cookbook creator says: The very best vegan recipe I have ever made! I bought a cute little marble mortar and pestle from Kitchen Collection. "Little" is the operative word. Get a bigger one. I cut the recipe in half due to not having enough fresh basil; the full recipe wouldn't have fit in my mortar bowl. Buono appetito!
