When I was eight years old, my parents got American Girl dolls for me. Along with the doll, I also got the Felicity cookbook and this recipe soon became one of my favorites. For those of you with a gluten allergy, you can substitute the regular flour with rice flour.

Don't like raisins and bananas? Substitute any dried fruit, apples, oranges, lemon zest or nuts instead. Adapted from a recipe given to me years ago by Gloria Belknap, a French-trained chef who used to own a bed-and-breakfast in Boston's South End. Makes 10 large fluffy scones.

I have finally perfected my banana muffins! These are delicious and moist with just a hint of chocolate flavor. The instant espresso powder in this may seem like a strange addition, but it is there to heighten the chocolate flavor and doesn't impart any coffee taste. The strawberries give little bursts of sweetness and leaving some chunks in the bananas brings out the banana flavor. Make sure to use previously frozen bananas OR very ripe ones-- you will have to put a LOT more sugar in to counteract a green or yellow banana in this recipe, which only calls for a quarter cup.

I had an abundance of zucchini in the garden this year. This recipe used one large one (about 1-1/4 lbs) and was a big hit! I would even make this for a light Sunday night supper. My son suggested adding ham next time and slicing tomatoes over the top. It takes some time, but can be prepared ahead. Try it!

Crêpes are a weekend family favorite in our house. They can be eaten with savory or sweet fillings. Some savory filling ideas are sautéed mushrooms or cooked spinach with a bit of nutmeg, milk and quick shake of garlic powder. Sweet fillings? Try a couple of squirts of buttery spray and a sprinkle of splenda for SUPER simple. Other classic sweet fillings include fresh strawberries or 100% fruit jam. These will make you feel like you're doing something bad but if you keep your fillings're having a lovely treat. FYI - I have had success with using 1/2 whole wheat flour and 1/2 white flour. If you do this increase your batter resting time to 1.5 hours.
