Wendy found this delicious recipe at the Spark Recipe Website. It was submitted by INSPIREDBYCHJ. The chef made up this recipe "off-the-cuff" when she was craving some Hot and Sour soup. She claims that it's pretty good and you could add some hot pepper sauce if you like it fiery! Wendy makes Hot and Sour Soup which is perfect for her authentic Chinese dinner parties.

This cake's batter contains dates and has a chocolate chip and walnut topping. Heather Norville's close friend, Gladys Bartlett (Mrs. B), from Concord, New Hampshire, gave her this recipe around 1968. It has become a family favorite for birthdays and special occasions for over forty years.
