A simple and easy coffee cake, its quick to whip up on a weekend morning. Its not fancy, but sometimes that's not what you need!

I often make this for company, mixing the dry ingredients, and the wet in seperate bowls the night before, and mixing the two together in the morning. A nice breakfast without spending all my time slaving away.

Bread pudding is a dessert that was born of necessity long ago. It was a recipe cooked up by thrifty homemakers to use every bit of leftovers in interesting ways to feed their families. This bread pudding, from an old Amish cookbook, is absolutely incredible. It is definitely a comfort food, and can be made richer with cinnamon sauce or caramel sauce. You can also substitute berries in place of the raisins for a delicious change of pace. It is a fairly basic bread pudding recipe, but it is truly the soul satisfying treat that most people crave. Nothing beats warm bread pudding on a cold or rainy night.

Baklava, reduced

This is a reduced sugar and fat version of a traditional recipe I found many years ago in a Greek book. Once I figure out the right proportion of water to sugar for the syrup I plan on reducing the sugar even more. Note labor intensive recipe, and thats with buying made phyllo dough.

People I work with have said that they prefer this recipe to the Baklava that can be bought at the grocery store. I only make this once/twice a year.
