When Grandma made these for us, she baked them in the oven with cream of mushroom soup poured over the top. When she asked me, I was convinced that these were hamburger patties. The walnuts mock the gristle normally found in hamburger. As a healthier option, I choose to serve them with my own "homemade cream of mushroom soup" or just plain.
