The trick to using Turkey Ham in slow cooking soups and stews is to not put it in early or else the ham flavoring cooks out of the turkey and the end result is not especially tasty, especially when expecting it to be ham-flavored. Yet I stil want a ham flavoring to this bean soup so I added 4 ounces of turkey ham chopped into 1/4-inch cubes to the bean soup at the start of the cooking process and added 12 ounces of 3/4-inch cubes just a few minutes from serving the soup. The small amount of turkey ham added early provided the ham flavoring and the small cube size mixed right in with the beans and took on the flavoring of the beans so there was no problem with the taste. My neighbor gave me this awesome recipe that her grandfather used to make. It used regular pork sausage and way more cheese and butter. This is my low cal version. I serve it with 1/2 cup of cannelloni beans and I add those to my calorie count separately. You could cook them in the soup though and add them into the recipe. (My boyfriend won't eat the beans.)
