Can use the base for any flavor ice cream. The origional recipe was for buttered pecan. Substitute 1 tbsp butter extract for almond and 1 1/2 fine chopped pecans sauted in 1 tbsp butter for almonds, calories will be different.

One of my childhood favorites. My Nana learned it from her mother-in-law in the 1920's. She used 6 bacon strips fried crispy and then sauteed her onion in some of the fat; I've made it a little healthier with the bacon bits and sauteing the onions in a pam-sprayed skillet.
