Good Start Smoothie

This is a yummy smoothie I drink most days, gives me energy and a nice boost to start my day the same way coffee used to but only now I don't crash afterwards!

For Bariatric Patients, add 1 scoop of your fav protein powder to make this a complete meal replacement or help you reach your protein quota for the day.

My favorite frozen fruits for smoothies are:

Pineapple
Mandarins (packed in water not syrup)
Bananas
Strawberries
Mango
Mellon
Kiwi
Blueberries
Acai berries
Cranberries
Rasberries
Blackberries

The best way to freeze your own fruit is to rinse well, pat dry with a towel and spread on a cookie sheet to freeze this way the fruit wont freeze in giant clumps that are difficult to break apart. Store frozen fruit in a ziplock bag or airtight container to prevent freezer burn.

O's Omega-3 Smoothie
(no ratings)

No dairy or fish oil in this one! (Burping up fish oil is totally the worst)

In my opinion, walnuts are the best tasting source of ALA Omega-3's. I've always liked smoothies, but they seem to make me crash mid-morning. This smoothie has no added sweetener and the walnut oil makes it a little more filling. It adds a really nice nutty flavor that melds well with the fruit. Plus, the oil is packing 1.4 grams of Omega-3's!

One note about nutrition information accuracy... If you use a cranberry juice from concentrate or a vanilla flavored almond milk, it will make a difference so be careful!

This started with a recipe I saw somewhere and made over to suit me. It is a great afternoon or evening snack or dessert. I suppose it could also be used for breakfast. Very filling. I make it up and split between my husband and myself.
