Bariatric Quik 'n' Easy Apple Crisp for One
Very Good 4.5/5

This is a quick microwave recipe that makes a yummy snack! It could also be pureed but may need a tablespoon or two of hot water added.

While eveyone else is having a high-fat, high-sugar dessert at Thanksgiving, make this yummy alternative in a jiffy for yourself! But, watchout! Everyone else may want one, too!

Bariatric Galabki (Stuffed Cabbage Rolls) tlh
Very Good 4.8/5

I like these because they are a complete meal-in-one. Meat, vegetable and a little starch all wrapped up in each bundle.

This recipe makes up quicker than most when using a pressure cooker but it can be baked in the oven or in a Dutch oven on top of the stove.

There is some brown rice in it but the percentage of carbs is low and the protein is high. Ground turkey could be substituted for one or both of the meats but the nutrition information would need to be changed.

There are many different kinds of stuffed cabbage recipes originating from many countries. This is more like the Polish-type (pronounced go-wum-ki) and is simpler than others. If your lifestyle is like mine, simple is better!

I received my Lap-band on 5/19/2008. I created this recipe especialy for people who have had bariatric surgery, particularly Lap-band, but it is healthy for anyone to eat.

This is very quick-to-fix. It makes a large and very filling entrée for lunch or supper. If you have had bariatric surgery, cut it in half and save the other half for the next day or a snack later the same day (if your family doesn't gobble it up first)!

Remember to take small bites and chew each bite at least 25 times before swallowing!

I wanted a soup that would be creamy but low in fat as a side dish to a meal I was serving but I also wanted it to have some protein in it to add to the meal so I came up with these recipe.

This has more protein (3 oz per serving) in it than is usually used in this type of recipe to meet our protein needs. I like to serve this with a small Yukon Gold baked potato on the side to make a complete meal.

This recipe is so easy to make!

Because I have a Lap-Band, I used the SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend in this recipe but if you want or need to avoid all sugar, you may replace it with 3 Tablespoons of the SPLENDA® that measures like sugar (not the packets) and you will need to find a sugar-free ketchup. The nutritional information will need to be changed accordingly.

It is important to begin with very fresh and very lean boneless pork chops. I found a large Family- Pack of 6 chops that weighed 2.30 pounds. When I removed every last bit of fat, I ended up with exactly 2 pounds of lean meat.

Other similar recipes call for the sauce to be cooked and thickened before pouring over the chops but I found that the sauce thickens very nicely on its own without pre-cooking it, thus saving a step and time!

Just a side note: The first time I made this, I forgot the ketchup and it was still delicious.

Using 2% Velveeta Cheese and Turkey chili, reduces the calories for this party favorite. Also makes a quick lunch with some whole wheat crackers, breadsticks, bagel crisps, etc.
