My mom made this a lot when I was younger, and I loved it! Boiling the chicken (vs. browning in oil) reduces the fat content, but retains the flavor.

I reduced the sodium a lot by not adding salt and by using no-salt tomato paste and no-salt diced tomatoes. I also substituted two cloves of garlic for the garlic powder and omitted the sugar. After browning the meat, you just throw it in the slow cooker and go. Very easy!

Cookbook creator says: So delicious! The only thing I did differently was to use unsalted butter and to use only about 1/8 tsp of Morten's Lite salt per serving. Using less salt did not diminish its great flavor at all!
