Grandma Inga's Lefse
Grandma Inga's Lefse

My grandmother, who recently passed away at age 100, made this recipe every year. When she got into her nineties, she taught me how to make it. Lefse is a Norwegian flatbread eaten with sugar, cinnamon and butter (or any topping at all), and requires a flat stainless steel griddle, scored, covered rolling pin, turning stick and cloth-covered pastry board, all of which can be purchased from the Bethany company.Submitted by: MICKBETH

Lefse

This is the recipe that my family makes every year. It originally came with the lefse griddle. Note: We've tried other brands of potato flakes but the Hungry Jack potatoes taste the most like real potatoes and they turn out the best.Submitted by: KARIDAVIES

Lefse

Lefse is a very traditional round, flat bread made from potatoes that originated in Norway.Traditional tools for making lefse include large, hot griddles, potato ricers, long, flat spatulas called lefse turners, and heavy, grooved rolling pins. It can be eaten with many toppings, including jam, sugar, cinnamon, and butter, or it can be eaten plain. It is commonly made for Christmas by Scandinavian families around the world. whole wheat potato lefse

I substituted whole wheat pastry flour for the A/P white flour in this recipe. Consider using olive oil, coconut or other healthy oil instead of butter. Submitted by: SHOBAN5
