All-Purpose Southwestern Corn and Black Bean Salad
This recipe makes 12 servings and keeps in the refrigerator up to 5 days. It's quite versatile--add shredded chicken and serve tortillas on the side to make it a main-dish salad. Or serve it as a dip with baked tortilla chips, a side for burgers or grilled chicken, or a salad on a bed of lettuce.

Bariatric Galabki (Stuffed Cabbage Rolls) tlh
I like these because they are a complete meal-in-one. Meat, vegetable and a little starch all wrapped up in each bundle.
This recipe makes up quicker than most when using a pressure cooker but it can be baked in the oven or in a Dutch oven on top of the stove.
There is some brown rice in it but the percentage of carbs is low and the protein is high. Ground turkey could be substituted for one or both of the meats but the nutrition information would need to be changed.
There are many different kinds of stuffed cabbage recipes originating from many countries. This is more like the Polish-type (pronounced go-wum-ki) and is simpler than others. If your lifestyle is like mine, simple is better! Submitted by: LAPBAND2008

Beef Fajitas
I got this receipe from the mayo clinic website. I was looking for heart healthy high fiber foods for people with high blood pressure and colon problems. This is our family's favorite meal. Even the kids love it. Try adding fat free refried beans, serve it on the side or on the fajita. The mayo clinic website calculates the calories at 307, Protein at 34g, Carbs at 32, Cholesterol at 51mg, Sodium at 494mg and Fiber at 11g. The recipe calculater came out a little differently.Submitted by: MMORGENSON

Blueberry Yogurt Smoothie
100% natural and 100% delicious! As well as 'good' bacteria for a healthy digestion, yogurt has calcium important for bones - particularly for menopausal women and children. Bananas are full of slow release sugar to sustain you throughout the day and are also high in potassium, which is important to lower high blood pressure. Blueberries are full of fiber and antioxidants. And finally, orange juice is high in Vitamin C - add more or less depending on how thick you want your Smoothie. Enjoy!Submitted by: KPBNEARLY40

Seitan Sausage
I quit eating "things with feet" to get my MD off my back about cholesterol and blood pressure...and, because I married a pretty little thing 12 years younger than me. I mean, do the math: I'm older, so, statistically speaking, I should take a croak, before her. Well, I don't WANNA. But, foods like sausage are the paving stones of the road to hell, from a dietary standpoint. And, one of my favorite foods. So, here's a VERY viable substitute. You're going to need cheesecloth and stout string; dental floss will do.
Try this, and play with the spicing to make your own mouth happy. Trust me, it's darn near indistinguishable from traditional sausage. Except that it won't clog your heart.Submitted by: TA24JC
