Fruity taste, I added oats to beef up the nutrition
This is a tangy tart and sweet fruit butter that is great on banana bread, cranberry bread or toast. The interesting thing is that both fruits are distinctive in the flavor, first you taste the cranberry then the banana.
Grandma's family favorite
Tasty version with barley and mushrooms for flavor. May use broth in place of water, just adjust for extra sodium content!
An alternative at home for the "egg mcmuffin". The calories are close to the Egg McMuffin, but the fiber is twice the amount.
Without the Cheese the Calories drop to 226, fat to 8.2 g, carbs to 24.7 and protein to 15.5. This is higher in sodium
You can use either Vanilla or Chocolate flavored Almond Bark. This is a treat, obviously, and not a great option very often, but great around the holidays, I have also added coconut flakes to the mix. You can play with the proportions, if you like more pretzels, etc
My grandfathers chili verde.
We traditionally ate this with some flour tortillas. I also like to eat it on some rice.
Sweet and tangy coleslaw
If your children don't like bell peppers, you can make meatballs with the filling instead. It is a bit moist, so if making meatballs you may want to add bread crumbs to thicken it.
