Yes, it does use a raw egg for protein and a unique frothiness (think Orange Julius) which you can leave out if you choose or substitute with some protein powder or an extra 1/2 cup of yogurt instead. I do recommend buying organic, cage free eggs (bonus if you can get them from a farmers market) for this purpose to help avoid potential issues.
