This is fantastic!!! I've altered it a bit to add some different flavors/textures
A smoothie that boasts tons of flavor and approval from kids anywhere! Smoothies are easy and universal. All you need is fruit, yogurt, and milk and you're all set! I added sugar, but this can be supplemented with honey.
With the Nestle Toll House Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl Chips.
Inspired by Aida Mollencamp's vegetable pot pie. I took her idea and added slow-cooked pork and celery instead of fennel.
This is one of THE BEST rice pudding recipes I've ever made. It's worth a try if you've never had this kind of pudding before. And don't be afraid of adding the egg! Tempering the egg ensures that you do not end up with bits and pieces of scrambled egg in your pudding!
I skimmed the recipe to half of the typical batch (hence using half the egg). Instead of cream I used milk, light butter substitute. I also added about 1/2 tsp of cinnamon to the mixture and lightly sprinkled nutmeg over the top when placed in a bowl.
Perfect for cold weather days!!
This cake is easy to make, and although appears to be sweet because of the amount of sugar and honey involved, it is not an over-the-top taste.
This dinner has a wonderful spicy flavor and the vegetables add great dimension.
Have brownie mix but want to cut the fat and calories? Replace the oil for unsweetened applesauce, and the egg for a smashed banana. Trust me, it will taste great!
You can always replace the oil with another banana or even applesauce. The oil gives it more moisture, but I have replaced it many times with fruit.
Instead of using vegetable oil, I replaced it with applesauce. I think it honestly tastes better!
I've always adored this dish. I've used the same dish with pork chops and it still turns out amazing. I usually serve this with mashed potatoes, but it is common to serve with egg noodles.
I was inspired by the Greek cuisine, and feel that this will be a great addition to my recipe collection!
Adjusted for a small loaf. I'll put in the original recipe amount, and it can be cut in half.
This turned out ridiculously soft and delicious! For my kids, I added a little powdered sugar/milk glaze with a touch of vanilla extract and cinnamon added in, then drizzled it over the top. It was a huge hit! (I tried half of a banana, smashed as an egg replacement and it turned out wonderfully!)
From Giada de Laurentiis -- This recipe originally calls for 6 servings, but it is incredibly fattening and high in calories. I personally would only be able to eat one roll, and this gives 2 per serving. I also made many changes to lighten it up, such as a butter alternative, whole wheat flour, 1% milk, low fat ricotta, less parmesan cheese, low fat mozzarella, and egg white. However, if you are a purist, go ahead and use her recipe full strength!
From Giada de Laurentiis -- I cut the extra virgin olive oil in half to reduce the amount of fat and calories, but you are surely welcome to follow the recipe. This is one of her many highly rated dishes.
From the Food Network
**One minor alteration...I used far less extra virgin olive oil to cut down on the fat. You may choose to use more if desired.
I love Alton Brown--you can never go wrong with him! Instead of beef, I used ground turkey, and I did not have any bell pepper, otherwise I would add this as well.
My dad's recipe. Both of my parents knew how to cook!
I used real, unsalted butter, so their fatty. Obviously, this can be adjusted to be a little healthier, but the cookies won't be as soft or plump.
I remember my mom made this when I was a child and I have been searching obsessively to recreate this. One of the best dishes I ever had!
A very sweet and spice-filled bread that fills the entire kitchen with a wonderful fragrance! I think it maintains it's softness on the basic/light setting.
This is made in a bread machine, something I just bought! I can't wait to experiment!! It is important to have a food thermometer handy and make sure the yeast is not past its best used date.
I fell in love with tortilla soup thanks to the local popular Mexican food place, along with El Pollo Loco. Naturally, I HAD to find a recipe to fit my tastes! This is absolutely worth the try.
You can basically add anything to mac and cheese and make it a cassarole. My dad was famous for this one, and it's an insanely easy addition. Adjust however you want!
The traditional chocolate chip cookie recipe with M & Ms as a replacement, and a few adjustments.
Scrap your taco seasoning packets -- this one is definitely worth the try and tastes so much better!
I found this and I can definitely vouch that it is absolutely delicious! The original recipe calls for wine or vermouth instead of the beef broth, but I did not have it on hand so I supplemented. It was also prepared with polenta, but I did not make any of that.
It seems pretty fattening, but the ingredients can be removed or altered to adjust to certain diets or tastes.
A great tip is to let the dough sit in the loaf pan for about half an hour to let the leavening do its magic.
Also, if you don't have buttermilk, just put 1 tablespoon of lemon juice for 1 cup of regular milk and let it sit for 15 minutes in the fridge. Currants instead of raisins are a great option if desired.
They're a bit fatty, but delicious, of course! The key to excellent biscuits is using real, unsalted, ICE COLD butter and cold dough that is handled minimally. Cook at the minimum temperature and the biscuits will come out flaky. I like to place the cut-out dough together on the baking sheet instead of a lot of space. I think this makes sure they are soft.
Any leftover sauce is good served with sauteéd chicken over pasta or as a dip for bread sticks. It can also be frozen for up to 6 months -- Better Homes and Gardens
Homemade taste makes this chunky soup, priced at 94 cents per serving, a favorite of mine. We enjoy it with hot bread in winter and with salad in the summer.
Use your leftovers for a great tasting and filling turkey recipe!
This recipe is a no-brainer -- it is an excellent way to embellish a warm, comforting meal. It is an adjustment of a recipe with a healthy twist.
This recipe is from the Milwaukie, Oregon owned company Bob's Red Mill.
Insanely easy to make! And a crowd pleaser, plus, if you have picky eaters like I do, you can set aside regular macaroni and cheese and add the other ingredients.
Guilt free muffins! Full of natural sweeteners and mild, but great flavor!
I have had many a tuna patty growing up, and this is by far the best I have ever tasted. Your kids will love this, and you'll love that they're eating hidden veggies! The cost to make these are amazingly cheap, and you won't feel guilty eating it either.
These bars are great as a go-to snack for those on a diet. Low calorie, low in fat, and delicious!
