Granny's Eggbeaters English Muffin

This is a lower calorie/sodium/fat version of McDonalds McMuffin. I like the turkey and sometimes substitute Turkey sausage. I also use Mrs Dash for a little extra flavor. You can make these ahead of time and freeze.

No Bake Peanut Butter Protein Bars

This is a great protein bar! So easy to make, I make two batches at a time and store them in the fridge in snack bags. They don't last very long!

Granny's Trail Mix Snack

This is a snack that I hae in between meals some days. I actually use white chocolate chips, not chocolate. You can adjust the amounts for each ingredient as you like.

I had this today in a place I have never gone to. The only thing different is the dressing. They made their own. But this dressing is very similar in taste - a little less sweet, but really good.

I love gumbo! This is a simple recipe I make for our family. I add to it sometimes with shrimp, okra, crabmeat, etc. Whatever I feel like. Serve over rice and have a salad with it.

This is so easy to make. It makes getting that fruit in every day so much easier. You can add coconut to this if you like. Or pecans instead of the walnuts.

This is so good! I love to make it a day ahead so that all the flavors blend together. I make bruschetta to go with it and everyone always comes back for more.

I like burgers, but the ones at fast food places are too full of sodium. I like mine cooked on the grill - it just tastes better.

Granny's Dirty Rice with Beef

This is a low sodium dirty rice that I make with beef instead of turkey. It's the bay leaf that makes the taste. I use whole leaves and remove them just before serving.

This is soooo good. And it is easy to make. It is filling and low fat, low salt. You can add whatever vegetables you like or add some chicken or beef if you like. Have this with cornbread or biscuits.

One Lonely Enchilada

I love Mexican food but there is the salt issue. Canned enchilada sauce has a gazillion mg. of sodium. So I use a corn tortilla (taste better to me) and just 3 tbs. of canned sauce. I now have a recipe for the sauce. Will make a new recipe then. This is good in a pinch.

Granny's Enchilada Sauce

I love enchiladas...but.there is too much salt in the canned sauce. You can add 1 teaspoon of salt to this or to your taste. This makes three cups.

Granny's Liver and Onions

I love liver! It is great with smothered, sliced red potatoes, grits, or mashed potatoes. Add some green beans and you're all set.

Just a small salad with some crunch and sweetness from the apple. All good for you stuff. Top with your favorite dressing. Mine is Newman's Own Light Raspberry and Walnut Vinaigrette.
