sweet, salty, savory!
this recipe calls for yogurt cheese which is simply regular (non-fat, as the case may be) yogurt, plain or flavored with NO gelatin in the ingredients list that has been left to strain at least 8 hours (about half of the original volume will remain) through cheesecloth or coffee filter until the whey separates from the "cheese." the product is about the consistency of soft cream cheese.
these scones are perfect for a morning treat, simple and sweet. you can experiment by using more or less whole wheat flour in the recipe to make it more nutritious, or even smart balance instead of butter (though i haven't tried it) -- you may need to add a little extra baking powder to help lift a higher proportion of whole wheat flour.
