This is a basic pizza crust my family enjoys. You can par bake it and refrigerate or freeze it for future use or top the raw dough for pizza right away.
This recipe is from my baking bible, the 1961 Betty Crocker's New picture CookBook. These muffins taste like moist and slightly fluffy oatmeal cookies and are a satisfying breakfast, snack or dessert on a busy day. It's one of my go to basic recipes that I add a variety of fun stuff to including cinnamon chips, sun flower seeds, dried berries and raisins, nuts, chocolate chips, shredded coconut and flax seeds singly or combined. This morning it's cinnamon chips and sunflower seeds. Cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, or pumpkin pie spice is very nice in these although I would limit the addition of spices to 1 tsp total. Whole wheat flour can be substituted for part or all of the all purpose flour. I particularly like to use dark brown sugar in these.
This recipe is suitable for a 2 lb bread machine. Substitute up to half the bread flour for wheat flour. It will yield a softer denser loaf.
You can gradually substitute White Whole Wheat flour for some of the white; a cup at first and a little more each time to get your family used to the change slowly.
This tasty snack will please the kids and give them lots of Energy to travel on. Pre measure your 1/4 c. servings before you go to avoid over eating.
