Pudding is made from scratch, not from a box, like grandma used to make.
If whole milk is NOT used, the pudding will be runny and won't hold together, so do not substitute to cut fat.
Slightly modified version- minus 1/3 butter and 1/4 c sugar. Would NOT recommend substituting part-skim ricotta for whole milk, as the extra liquid will result in cake not baking correctly and overflowing loaf pan, resulting in a not very pretty loaf.
Makes enough to spread on 1 loaf of your choice of french, italian or other hearty breaad.
A slightly lighter version of Giada's recipe, with the oil and butter reduced, and the classic Bechamel sauce made with nonfat milk.
Light meal or side dish- recipe calls for 2/3 cup olive oil, but I halve that....
Fresh, uncooked tomato sauce made with RIPE tomatoes. Cherry tomatoes are preferred, but any sweet tomato in season will do.
A pancake like batter poured over fresh berries and baking until puffed and golden brown. The fruit rises to the top, leaving a soft texture somewhere between custard and cake.
canned beans with extra veggies
Kari brought this over to comfort us after we put our lovely Cassie down. It is comforting and tasty.
