I threw this recipe together using the ingredients that I had on hand; that's why some of the amounts are a bit quirky (e.g. 2 1/3 cups quinoa)
Halvah is common in Greek and Arab cuisines. This recipe is for a Greek halvah. The easiest way to remember the ingredients is: 1 2 3 4. This stands for 1 cup butter, 2 cups farina, 3 cups sugar and 4 cups liquid. I use 1 cup milk, 3 cups water.
Z'hug is a very spicey "relish" from Yemen. This is a compilation of different recipes that I found so I DO NOT claim it to be an authentic recipe. Comments and suggestions to make it more authentic are welcome and appreciated. Z'hug can used on meats or vegetables: it is a bit hot to be eaten on its own.
This is basically Flour Bakery's (Boston, MA)banana bread recipe; it is the first banana bread recipe that makes a moist bread. The ingredients here are slightly adjusted to make two loaves instead of one as the original recipe makes. Also, I used chocolate; original uses walnuts, I used Greek yogurt; original uses creme fraiche.
