Quick Red Beans & Rice. The sodium count on this is really high. But I drained/rinsed the beans, used low sodium bacon, rinsed the smoked sausage, so it's prolly a little lower than this. Also used salt-free creole seasoning.
Adapted from Betty Crocker.com website (this is lighter version) I used lighter versions of everything
These are made in the crock pot- These are from the Betty Crocker .com website- the original recipe has 250 cals and 17 grams of fat, I used lighter options and cut those down some. Feel free to make even more changes if you'd like.
From the King Arthur Flour website- these are SOOO good! I doubled up the size and made a smaller batch, but you could do just the size they recommend on the website and they would be just as good. Yum!
Another yummy recipe from Hungry Girls' 200 under 200. (The calorie count here is over 200???) These are not a typical pancake and have a different texture but are oh so very yummy and VERY filling!
From Hungry Girl's 200 under 200 recipe book. YUMMY! These are SOOO good!
This recipe is from the Betty Crocker cookbook- that I switched up a little, feel free to adjust to your liking
This was in my Ftiness magazine! Very versatile recipe, you can add almost any flavorings you'd like to it.
This was served every year at my house on New Years Day. It's that special treat I look forward to every year. It has been passed through our family starting with my Great grandmother and each person adds a little something to it. My addition was the garlic.
I make this every year on my Mom's birthday, it was her favorite "beef stroganoff". She passed away a few years ago and I always have this and her home made dinner rolls and her favorite cake on her b-day. The sodium is high, you can use the reduced sodium soups, but this is what I had on hand.
Very Versatile Dish- Adjust seasonings to your taste. Play around with the flavors!!!
This is from Accent Health. I seen it in the waiting room and it looked very good. I use Edy's Slow Churned Vanilla Ice Cream. The recipe calls for Frozen Yogurt. This is VERY good!!!
Great easy sandwhich, could be used for breakfast or lunch or dinner. Pair with a salad or some scrambled eggs or stand alone.
I was craving and BBQ burger and didn't want all the calories so this was my creation. It's my first attempt at a burger and even my DS (20 mos.) ate it and said "num num". So guess it's gotta be OK.
These are very yummy. Adjust seasonings to your taste! These are quite filling, you can get about 30-36 out of the recipe, depending on the size. Keep a few out and freeze the rest. Try different dried fruits.
My son loves this, you can add pretty much any veggie to it, add mushroom soup. You can cut it down the fat and calories and sodium using the healthy request soups.
This can be spicy, sometimes I substitute canned tomatoes with green chiles which makes it spicier, just have to watch the sodium. This is from the Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook. One of our favorites here. You can add more beans, more veggies. It's a very versatile recipe. To save time you can substitue canned beans for dried. Adjust simmering time to 15-20 mins, just long enough to blend the flavors.
This rub could be used with pork, beef and is very good on ribs too. Spicy spice rub with a vinegary, sweet, spicy sauce. This is very good. Courtesy of Weight Watchers Complete Cookbook
