All recipes for traditional soda bread contain flour, baking soda, sour milk (buttermilk) and salt. That's it!
This was a daily bread that didn't keep long and had to be baked every few days. It was not a festive "cake" and did not contain whisky, candied fruit, caraway seeds, raisins (add raisins and it becomes "spotted dog" not to be confused with the pudding made with suet of the same name), or any other ingredient.
I attempted to simplify the naan recipes I've read online in order to use stuff I had on hand. So, this is NOT an authentic naan recipe. My family still thought it was delish though!
Make your own sausage for a healthier alternative to prepared, store bought sausage! I cut out most of the salt called for in this recipe for a low-sodium alternative. If you don't have an hour to let the spices meld, that's ok. Let them meld for as long as possible before cooking. They're tasty either way. Enjoy!

Canned goods and browned ground beef added to a pie crust, covered with another crust. Bake for 30 min at 350!
Tuna fish salad made with Kraft Olive Oil mayo (less fat) and sweet pickle relish on one slice of whole wheat bread with half a slice of swiss cheese.
Good Housekeeping Soup Diet, the minestrone recipe. This calls for 2 cups of the Good Housekeeping diet soup base, which I have as a shared recipe. It is best made up ahead of time as the soup base recipe makes 28 cups at one time. Once I make the soup base, I separate it into freezer bags by 2 c and 4 c quantities.
Quick and easy Mexican Rice. Not authentic, but tasty nonetheless. True mexican rice is long grain white rice toasted in oil before adding the liquid. I wanted to cut the fat out, so I came up with this recipe.
Deli sliced turkey with provolone cheese, light mayo, and brown mustard on whole wheat.
