Substitutions: fat free half and half, light smart balance butter, no egg yolks
My grandmother's spin on the classic creole recipe
**Under Beef Daube Creole in cook book
Followed a different recipe than the book, but the concept is the same

Substitut
ed: EGGPLANT for Mirliton, omitted bacon, used egg whites for whole eggs
Subsititution: Using 2 T of butter instead of a stick, using brown rice instead of white rice, and using fresh mushrooms instead of canned.
Substitutions: Used only chicken breasts, used healthy choice cream of mushroom soup, added zucchini
Substitutions: Using Smaller tomatos, light butter instead of full fat, and seasoned bread crumbs (bc that is what was on hand)
My grandmother's favorite dessert
Substitutions: used skim milk instead of whole, used light butter instead of whole, did not use raisins, did not make meringue
My grandmother's sister's recipe.
Substitutions- used lean ground turkey breast, used low sodium chicken stock instead of making my own stock, used canned diced tomatoes instead of tomato paste.
Grandmother's breaded veggies--substituted steamed frozen for fresh (due to time/availability) and egg whites for whole eggs. Used minimum bread crumbs and oil for pan searing

recipe called for ground chuck-used lean ground beef instead
recipe called for white bread-used sara lee 45 cal white bread
recipe called for canned mushrooms-used fresh instead
Lean low sodium, low fat, high protein Turkey Chili....packed with veggies and fiber!
DELISH! That's it...I'm going to culinary school...haha
make this sauce to put on top of french toast, waffles, yogurt, cheesecake, etc. Delicious!
