Great power drink to help you through your workout. If you workout on an empty stomach, your body will use lean muscle to power itself and replace it with fat later. Try a power drink and see if you get better workout results.
A delight served warm or cold. I use my Vita-mix blender to puree this to a wonderful hot soup with fresh vegetables. It is also good over freshly cooked whole wheat pasta.
Cool, smooth, and nutritious. One serving of this smoothie provides 75% of your daily B12. If you are a vegan, B12 can be hard to come by with out taking a supplement. This smoothie packs a big nutritional punch to your day.
Delicious breakfast that will fill you up nutritiously. It is high in soluble fiber and omega 3.
This is the fruit cocktail my grandmother and mother served at the holidays every year.
This is a variation on the recipe that my mother always made at Thanksgiving and Christmas It is fresh and tart and great anytime of the year.
Beautiful and delicious! Blue corn organic taco shells filled with heritage grains, pinto beans, roasted peppers, and baby field greens. Serve with a robust dry red wine or a smooth and creamy Modelo Negra beer and enjoy!.
This spicy dish is warm and delicious and a full of nutrition. Shredded sweet potato gives it a twist of flavor and vitamins.
Easy to make breakfast - make quinoa ahead. You can make a batch and keep in fridge for up to a week.
Fill up on healthy vegetables and grains and lower cholesteral and blood glucose.
A lighter version of the old holiday favorite candied yams. This version uses applesauce to replace half the sugar and eliminates the butter all together.
I start with Lehi Roller Mill Whole Grain Heart Healthy Hotcake mix as a base for this recipe. You can use any pancake mix you like. I use Lehi because it is a very wholesome food containing whole wheat flour, whole flaxseed meal, nonfat dry milk, eggwhites, and dry buttermilk. I add old fashioned oats and cold milled flaxseed in this recipe, so even if you use a basic pancake mix, you will end up with a nice whole grain waffle.
This is the sweet potato recipe my aunt brought to Thanksgiving dinner. You can alter the recipe by substituting miniature marshmallows for the pecan topping.
This recipe is based on one submitted by BRATIEST1 named Broccoli Chicken bake.
I use the shredded meat I get from rendering the turkey carcass. Any part of turkey meat could be used, but this is a great use of the meat from the carcass since it will naturally be shredded when you remove it from the bone.
Yummy breakfast or brunch dish to spice up your morning. Even makes a great dinner dish. Serve with fresh fruit.
This recipe is from The Better Homes and Gardens Homemade Bread Cook Book published in 1973. This is my favorite bread cook book. It's out of print now. This recipe makes very light and rich biscuits. I sometimes substitute Half 'n Half for the milk. This will add calories and fat so I only do this for special occasions.
My husband buys the seasoning for Gold Star whenever we visit Cincinnati, his home town.
