I use this to fill calzones. My husband and kids enjoy the full meaty version, but these are great too, and take out a lot of the fat. In the tradition of a true calzone there is no sauce on the inside, it's added to the top after. This recipe does not account for the sauce on top.
Great for Calzones brushed with egg wash, very golden and beautiful. I have friends who use this recipe to make pizza on the grill in the summer. Just clean the grill grates well and oil before placing the dough on.
Great busy day meal! Mild flavors even the kids will like. If sodium is a problem for you, you may want to substitute low sodium variety tomatoes.
