My family used to go to a restaurant that served this with the meal and my Mom asked for the recipe. They gave it to her and we have been making it ever since. This was in the 50's--so I don't know if they are still in business.
I usually use cooked wheat berries but couldn't find this ingredient so bulgur will work too.
I found this recipe in an AARP magazine-it makes a really delicious sandwich and I think it is really healthful and low cost. It also is great served on almost any kind of cracker.
My Mom had a friend named Ceil whose husband was a cardiac. She would make these cookies for him to have with tea in the afternoons. My husband and I love them.

Recipe Collections I've Shared:
| Fran's Favorites I have a huge collection of recipes but only some make it into my recipe boxes. They are recipes that are 'tried & true". Made by my mom or other relative or old neighbors and then by me in my married life. My husband is a super taster and a reliable critic-not to mention a willing subject. |
