05/21/10 Made these and they came out awesome. Nice deep sourdough flavor, soft, chewy crust.
Yummy soft buns. These are very sweet though. May attempt again using half the sugar, but they would be great compliments for dishes on the sweet side. Teriyaki burgers, egg salad maybe?
1 cup sourdough starter
1/4 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2-3 cups flour
Makes 2 loaves

My favorite spinach salad. I know I could cut back the fat a lil, but it's healthy and this is how I like it :P
my healthier version of my dads traditional eggplant parm. Baked the slices instead of frying them like dad does. I also use part skim mozzerella instead of provolone. Will never taste as good as his, but much easier on the waistline.
Adapted from CILONIS's recipe, but I went half and half on the flours instead of all white, and added chopped walnuts.
The roomies LOVE Hamburger helper, so I wanted to make a healthier alternative.

My normal breakfast smoothie, also great when I'm craving something sweet (better than scarfing down a brownie or cookies) It's light and sweet and curbs the sugar craving
Needed to use up some leftovers, looked in the fridge and this is what I came up with. It actually started out as avgolemono soup (greek chicken lemon soup), but I wasn't pleased with the outcome, so I drained off the broth, put it in a casserole dish with a few other leftovers and tada.... much better.
I split it into 4 large servings. Definitely filling.
My favorite snack when I'm craving something sweet.

This cookbook is for homemade bread recipes that I've tried, or are in the process of trying. I am working with my own starter and experimenting with altering recipes to a healthier and lower fat versions. Most of these will be experiments in progress, as I'm a novice to homemade bread baking.
