Recipes I've Shared:
I learned to make this from my brother's landlords in Romania. He was a Peace Corps volunteer there. Milus made this as a snack for a long ride to Slovakia. I make this now and then and it makes a filling breakfast along with a smoothie. I love having this around as it makes breakfast a "no-brainer".
This has been my favorite comfort food for forever. The original recipe called for lots of fat from salt pork, and no garlic or onions directly in the filling. To replace fat flavor, for a healthier flavor, I put them in the filling, replaced white rice with the brown and used a mix of meats for flavor. This has taken me years of trial and error to get it to near the authentic polish dish I remember.
As a breakfast alternative meal, this is delicious and is packed with nutrients, while keeping down the calories!!!
