Taken off of a Facebook recipe: This (as it is now) is the original recipe. I'm going to work on it to make it a "skinny" recipe. I will probably start with the chips and cheese. The original used pinto beans which I replaced with black beans. I'll track the changes here.
This is a recipe that I found on Gimme Some Oven (http://www.gimmesomeoven.com/
trail-mix-energy-bites/) and I wanted to calculate the calories. I made a few changes from the original recipe: the big one is using sf chocolate chips.
These are good for mornings on the go. Add different toppings on them (or in them) for variety. See notes for freezing and warming up.

My girls LOVE this recipe. I usually guestimate my ingredients with this recipe. You "a little bit of this and a little bit of that". However, the ingredients that need to be watched, specifically the butter, is about right or the recipe is over estimated. The original recipe called for orange juice and we don't keep that in the house. I've been known to cut an orange in half and squeeze it in instead of orange zest.
