Adapted from a recipe on Seriouseats.com, which adapted it from Martha Stewart.
A variation of CAAM76's Slow Cooker Split Pea Soup. This is a tasty split pea soup that would lend itself to a lot of flavors. Next time I make it, I want to replace the liquid smoke and lemon with curry powder.
This is best in late summer, when sweet corn and decent tomatoes are available at the farmers market. That said, frozen corn and canned tomatoes make a good winter soup!
