This is a very old recipe that is very good and wonderful to come home to featuring chubby stuffed cabbage rolls in sweet tomato sauce. They come out much moister when cooked in the crock pot. Ground beef, lean is used here but you can also make a lower cholesterol version using Low Salt canned red kidney beans (or preferred bean) to 1 cup corn frozen rather than ground beef. I often make half of each and add them all to the pot.
Inspired by an old Vermont "Sugarbush" recipe in which the baked beans are sweetened with local maple syrup. Be sure the beans are par-cooked before mixing with the other ingredients! Yummy as a side dish, for cookouts or as a main meal with rice!
This is a wonderful meat alternative and I eat this as a main meal dish with salad or veggie. A layer of cooked shredded potatoes w/chopped onion holds a tasty tomatoes and cheese filling. Cook the potatoes the night before or earlier in the day. Add a fruit cup too! Very filling and yummy!
This recipe is much lower in both cholesterol and salt. It's very moist and wonderful for snack, breakfast or with a meal.
This dish is really very good and low in fat. The sweetness of the pineapple makes this a wonderful dish. Add some white or brown rice to give it an Asian feel.
This yummy meat loaf is lower in fat, salt and lower in cholesterol. Lighter than a traditional meat loaf and wonderful with a salad. Top with your choice of tomato sauce or gravy.
These yummy potatos are low in fat and salt but very good for you! Enoy them with a salad or fruit cup as a main meal.
