I made some of this for a Christmas present for neighbors who are always helping me out and extra for me. I thought it was great. i have made this soup using chicken broth instead of the beef, no water. I sauted a huge vadalia onion in one tablespoon of whipped butter which is lower fat only fifty calories after they brown i add the broth and croutons. Very Good! Submitted by:

Not enough onions in this recipe. I upped it to 4 onions. I like a little more onion flavor, rather than strictly beef broth. By cooking the onions slower and longer and in a little fat, such as olive oil or butter (butter spray) rather than directly in water it will up the onion flavor. Submitted by:

I made a huge pot for 20, used low sodium beef broth, caramelized the onions and added, low fat swiss, and Italian bread chips instead of croutons. Everyone loved it! Thank you. will be serving this again. Submitted by:

I will take other's suggestions and carmelize onions in nonstick skillet with Pam and than add to low sodium broth and use homemade bread instead of croutons (so I know what's in it). Hubby LOVES onion soup and this sounds like it will be great! Submitted by:

This is a good recipe. I make it with a lrge onion. Sauted in the microwave 6 minutes, I always use Swansons NO MSG and Low sodium and always add a little Sherry. Company gets the bread and cheese topper I am allergic to yeast so I simply leave it off. Its a great company appetiser always gets raves Submitted by:

Excellent. I cameralized te onions with garlic and thyme ; and also added portebello mushrooms. After simmering added cornstarch and a dash of non fat evaporated milk to thicken a little with a cup of white wine added to the beef broth. Submitted by:
