My 12 year old son makes this with Better Than Broth beef broth (health food store) and diced ham. It is yummy and still reasonable in calorie count. He also sometimes adds a 15 oz. can of tomato sauce. Great for a cold day like today (High of 11 degrees celsius!) Submitted by:

My family loved this recipe. We used fresh rather than frozen onions, and added a half teaspoon more salt. When I made it a second time I used half red lentils and cooked in crock pot. When using the crock pot I boiled the water and added to other ingredients. Served with brown rice and cheese Submitted by:
