Red Cabbage with Apple

Introduction

A beautiful ruby colored side dish that my family loves to have at Thanksgiving and Christmas. A beautiful ruby colored side dish that my family loves to have at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Number of Servings: 6

Ingredients

    3 Bacon Strips, Diced
    1 Onion, Chopped
    1 Apple, Peeled and Chopped
    1 Cup Water
    1/4 Cup White Wine Vinegar
    1 Tbs. Sugar
    1/2 Tsp. Salt

Directions

In a large saucepan, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Using a slotted spoon, remove to paper towels to drain.

In drippings, saute onion and apple until tender. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30 minutes or until tender. Stir in reserved bacon.

Makes 6 servings
