Crockpot Creamy Italian Chicken

Ingredients

    Philly Fat Free cream cheese, 1 block (8oz)
    1 can of cream of chicken soup, 98% Fat Free
    1 package Good Seasons Italian Dressing mix
    1/2 cup water
    6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Directions

Spray crockpot with nonstick spray. Place chicken in crockpot, mix italian dressing mix and water, pour over chicken. Cut cream cheese into cubes, spread out over chicken. Pour can of soup over all. Cover, cook on low 6-8hrs, or low 4-6hrs.

    i put red potatoes chopped up under it in the crock pot and used 1/3 the fat philly and it was fantastic! (wasnt sure how the fat free would tast and my bf is picky) omg it is soooo good though!!! a keep for sure, and simple. it would go excellent over some rice!!! - 8/14/09

    I made this but used Ranch dressing mix because I couldn't find the Italian one.It was awesome!! My husband couldn't bellieve it was okay for us to eat it. I will definately make it again - 12/30/09

    omg.. loved this! my boyfriend who isn't "dieting" or anything loves it too.. he gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars. Next time I think I will add another 1/2 packet of the italian seasoning.. it was a tiny bit blah but still really good... I just think more flavor would make it that much better - 1/16/10

    This is so super easy and delicious! I line my crockpot with a crockpot plastic liner. There is no clean up. This recipe is very simple, but tasty. I used the Good Season's Zesty Italian packet to season the chicken. I cooked on high for about 5 hours. The chicken was extremely tender. - 12/8/09

    This recipe was easy but, next time I will cook over low heat for longer time. I think it needs longer to cook for all the flavors to come together. I added some extra minced garlic and mushrooms (like the others suggested) and that helped amp it up a little. - 2/24/10

    I have made this before, using Mushroom soup and adding a can of mushrooms. We like it a lot better that way. I have not used low fat or fat free cream cheese, but am going to try it. Also, we have used white wine, in place of the water. It is incredible! Probably not dietetic, though. ; - 7/23/10

    I fixed this recipe & I'm not an adventurous person when it comes to making new recipes. The cream cheese part scared me, but it really does mix well in the recipe! I added chicken broth to thin it out a little bit and next time I'll add some garlic. WE LOVED IT! (served it over no-yolk noodles!) - 3/15/10

    This is super-easy to make. There are no fat-free versions of the ingredients available where I live, so I used low-fat ones. I served it over some whole-wheat egg noodles for fibre. The serving size is generous and filling, and I really enjoyed it! I would definitely make it again. - 5/25/10

    I made this for my family. BF can be a picky eating. This was really good and tasty. I added one pack of Good Seasons Italian dressing, and a half pack of Zesty Italian dressing. I also added minced garlic. I also added a cup and half of water. Serve it with egg noodles. - 4/2/10

    Totally great receipe. I fixed it for my son who has Chronic Pancreatitis which demands a low-fat diet. It went down without any trouble. It is also the closest thing to an Aldredo sauce that we can find. - 3/25/10

    LOVED it! I used chicken thighs because I didn't have breasts, and substituted a packet of dry ranch dressing for the italian. Also added a can of mushrooms. Chicken was very moist and the whole was delicious over brown rice. Will definitely make this again! - 3/24/10

    I actually did not like this meal at all. I don't care for cream of chicken soup, and the flavor seemed very overpowering to me. I think that it would be tastier with something to substitute the soup.

    I have made this recipe several times. My husband and 2 yr. old son both LOVE it. I use the Smart Balance Cream Cheese though, just a little extry help there with the healthiness, and I don't bother with the dressing mix, I just buy the dressing in the bottle. - 4/28/08

    It was delicious! Both DH & I really enjoyed it over whole wheat pasta. I was a little concerned with the calories because it seemed too low. I full chicken breast would be about 250 cals not including sauce. It just didn't seem accurate to me even considering the 8 servings. - 2/22/08

    This is fantastic! Some of my friends even tried it and they all loved it to. It is easy to make and tastes great. We made brown rice to go with it and poured the remaining juices over the rice. - 2/26/11

    I used a skinned whole chicken and added Ranch dressing mix. I put on the bottom carrots, okra, mushrooms, grated garlic, thinly sliced red pepper. Served it over noodles. Wow, what a yummy dish. It's a keeper. - 1/27/11

    Okay, I added these things based on other comments: can of drained mushrooms, can of diced tomatoes (juice and all), extra water, garlic, and my own addition of a can of white beans, drained and rinsed. I only had two chicken breasts to use so I shredded the meat & served it over rice. Very yummie! - 11/11/10

    This was delicious! I served it with quinoa and the sauce was amazing with it. Just remember to cube the cream cheese fairly small. I still had chunks in mine when it was done. - 10/10/10

    Yummy! I used the Zesty Italian Dressing packet, and added a can of Rotel tomatoes. Dh and the kids had it over egg noodles, and I ate it on brown rice. Very good-I'll make it again and won't change a thing! - 10/2/10

    Used Ranch instead of Italian. Also added carrots and potatoes to the crock pot. I kept reading the comments wondering just how good this could possibly be based off the ingredients. Clearly I had no idea until I tired it. Absolutely YUMMM-Y!! This is now one of our favorites. - 9/15/10

    This was wonderful. I served it over whole wheat penne and YUM! It reminds me of an Alfredo, but lighter. I think next time I will try putting in mushroom and onions. A very easy dinner. It seemed that the 6 hours was really the perfect time to let it cook. - 8/16/10

    I thought this was great. Very creamy sauce. I cut up red potatoes and lined the bottom of the crockpot with it, then put the chicken on top of that as suggested by another person. Very easy and it came out awesome. - 6/20/10

    This was awesome! Money is tight and this recipe came out to about $1.50 per person! The gravy was out of this world and I would have given it 5 stars but the chicken was a little on the dry side. Recommend braising chicken first and plan on making gravy with to pour over Shake N Bake chicken! - 12/13/09

    This recipe was good for my taste, but my kids did not care for the soup and stuff on top. My husband did not really care for it because he said the chicken was very dry and my crockpot did burn around the edges. I may have overcooked it a little since everyone had to work a little late that day. - 1/13/08

    Excellent. Even my husband who doesn't like cream cheese liked this dish. Found though that when it was all done cooking had remove chicken and whisk together ingredients, but was very good. - 11/12/10

    Made it with normal cream of chicken and 1/2 regular cream cheese and 1/2 of the 1/3 less fat cream cheese. Didn't have italian seasoning so I used a ranch dip mix and added a squirt of zesty italian dressing and a little garlic powder. Served over noodles with peas and homemade italian bread. - 5/27/10

  • I used 1/3 less fat cream cheese. It was DELICIOUS! It made more sauce than necessary, even with adding brown rice to the meal (covered with sauce). I think I'll use more meat next time, or maybe record the other ingredients separately to get more accurate accounting of calories / sodium. - 12/15/13

  • This is a great recipe when having company. They would never know it was a low calorie meal. I put my chicken over noodles and poured the sauce over top. I steamed some broccoli to go with it. I will definitely make this again and add other ingredients that have been suggested. - 10/30/13

  • Any suggestions in doing this without the seasoning packets. I have to do gluten free and most seasoning packets have wheat fillers in them. I also think the salt content is insane ammount with the cream soup (I have gluten free cream of musroom thank God! - 10/16/13
