  • I was able to adapt this for the Dutch oven and substituted a can of the chopped tomatoes for the paste, and also added 1/2 cup of red wine. Adding parsnips added some sweetness to the mix. - 1/19/12

  • Great! Very good. My husband and daughter loved it. I used a whole roast instead of stew meat and a can of diced tomatoes instead of the paste (forgto to get it at the store). I highly recommend seasoning and browning the meat before adding to crock pot. Adds a lot of flavor to it. Wonderful!!! - 3/16/10

  • Very good, classic pot roast. It has a lot of liquid, I would cut the liquid in half if you wanted it less soup/stew like. Will definitely make again. - 9/27/09

  • I was looking for an easy recipe for a company potluck when I stumbled across this one. I just threw everything in my crockpot in the morning and it was ready to go by 2 PM. Judging by the fact that it was gone before any other dish at the potluck, I feel safe to say it was a hit! - 12/13/08
