Introduction

Great filler upper. High fiber. High protein. Use no salt added beans for lower sodium. Great filler upper. High fiber. High protein. Use no salt added beans for lower sodium.

Ingredients

    * 8 ounces bacon, about 10 to 12 slices (Used Turkey Bacon - 4 slices)
    * 1 pound extra lean ground beef (nutrition figured using 96% lean)
    * 1 cup chopped onion
    * 1/2 cup brown sugar
    * 1 tbsp. dry mustard (regular mustard can be substituted)
    * 2 cans pork and beans
    * 1 can lima beans or butter beans, drained
    * 1 can kidney beans, drained
    * 1/2 cup ketchup
    * 1 tbsp. vinegar

Directions

Brown bacon, ground beef, and chopped onions. Combine drained ground beef mixture in slow cooker with remaining ingredients; cover and cook on LOW for 3 to 5 hours.

NOTE: From About.com with some modifications. It can also be baked for 1 hr instead of using the slow cooker or just cook on the stovetop.
