Cheesy Mmmushroom Pita

Introduction

Two "beefy" portabello mushrooms sandwich a roasted red onion, cream cheese and garlic filling before nestling into a whole wheat pita pocket! Can be served on a bun, sliced up for a salad, or done whichever way you choose! Ingredients

    2 large portabello mushroom caps (approx 3 oz each), stems removed
    1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
    1/2 tsp steak pepper medley (like Club House)
    3 tbsp fat free garlic-and-herb cream cheese, softened
    1 clove garlic, finely minced
    1 slice red onion
    1 large whole wheat pita bread, partially opened around the circumference (not halved)

Directions

Preheat oven to 350F.
Drizzle 1/4 tsp of Worcestershire sauce into the gills of each mushroom and sprinkle with the pepper blend.
Arrange mushrooms, gill side down, on a lightly greased or lined baking pan.
Bake 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, mix together the cream cheese and garlic in a small dish, set aside.
After 15 minutes, flip the mushrooms over and place the onion slice on one.
Return to the oven and roast a further 10 minutes, then top the other mushroom with the cheese mixture. Roast 5 minutes longer.
Sandwich the two filled sides of the mushrooms together and tuck into the pita bread.
