Ingredients
-
1 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 cup quick-cooking barley
1/2 cup uncooked brown rice
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup flax seed
Directions
Combine rice and barley in a food processor, blender, or clean coffee grinder and pulse until coarsely ground. Add all remaining ingredients to the food processor and pulse a few times to combine.
Store in an airtight container until ready to use.
To make a single serving of the cereal, take 1/3 cup of the cereal and combine it with 1 cup water and a dash of salt in a small sauce pan. Bring to a rolling boil, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 5 minutes.
Extra Credit (not included in nutritional info) --- Add dried apples, cinnamon, and brown splenda mix to instant mix or dried berries and fat free evaporated milk powder...the possibilities are endless.
Makes ten 1/3 cup dry servings (yields ten 1 cup servings when fully cooked).
