Introduction

My grandpa used to make what he called "garbage soup" all the time. He basically just threw in whatever was in the refrigerator with whatever meat he had on hand. Number of Servings: 5

Ingredients

    * Potato, raw, 3 medium (2-1/4" to 3-1/4" dia.) - cut up
    * Baby Carrots, raw, 8 large - cut up
    * Onions, raw, .75 cup, chopped
    * Diced Tomato, Kroger No Salt Added, 1 can
    * Beef, ground round 85/15, 14 oz - browned
    * Water, tap, 4 cup
    * Garlic powder, 2 tsp
    * Minced Onion, 1 tsp
    * Pepper, black, 1 dash
    * Salt, 1 dash
    * Parsley, dried, 1 tsp
    * Celery, raw, 2 stalk, medium - cut up

Directions

Cut up the potatoes, carrots and celery. Brown the ground round. Put it all in a pot and let it boil/simmer until the carrots and potatoes are done. Easy, simple, yummy & great for nights when you don't have a ton of time to stand in the kitchen! :)

  • I do something similar with our leftovers. Instead of putting little bits of leftover food in the fridge or thowing it out, I keep a plastic freezer container in the freezer and add the remnants to it. When the container is full, I defrost the contents and put it in a soup pot with water and spices. - 9/21/10
