I loved this! My fiance wasn't too fond of it, but he admittedly does not like the taste of egg in soup. He said he didn't DISlike it, but he wasn't eager to have it again.

One change I made with my leftovers was adding just a TEENY bit of soy sauce- fantastic addition! - 8/15/08

I finally got the chance to make this tonight, and it's a keeper!! Really enjoyable. The pasta, I used whole wheat pasta, really enhanced the flavor. Thanks! - 8/9/08

This recipe is something like what my 17 yr old daughter requests when she is having a cold or whatever ailment. Very soothing and comforting. I usually add a bit of fresh garlic and onion -- her request. I think everyone should try this recipe. You're bound to go back to it many times. - 8/3/08

I just added the spinach to the chicken broth & pasta just when the pasta was almost done. One pot less to clean and it was great. My kind of fast & light meal.
I added a little sweet soy sauce before serving. - 3/17/08

  • Hubby and I love eggdrop soup so we decided to try this. We both thought this was a little to bland for our taste. We may try it again with the addition of onion, garlic, and ginger. - 1/8/12

  • Tasty and simple to make -- ya can't beat that. I like that this was formulated for 2 servings... great for singles, who can enjoy one, and put the other half in the 'fridge and enjoy the leftovers the next day. Yet it would be easy enough to double, triple, or quadruple the recipe for more diners. - 12/31/09

This sounds really good, am making it tomorrow. Instead of canned broth I am going to use my own seasoned broth from cooking chicken to save on sodium. - 8/3/08

    Reply from AMYELI (8/3/08)
Since I submitted the recipe I've started using a lower sodium broth as well. Some of the low sodium broths from the store are tasteless, but some are really good.

No need to steam something you are adding to a liquid. Also try low sodium chicken stock. A little garlic, basil and parmesan would be wonderful too. - 8/3/08

    Reply from AMYELI (8/3/08)
Steaming cooks at a higher temperature than boiling. I've added leaves directly to the broth to save on pot cleaning before, but I like it better with the spinach steamed. Love it with a little parmesan too.

I'm afraid of the egg...I eat eggs baked in things and occasionally on a sandwich. Just not sure about in a soup. Think I'll make it without the egg.
