Turkey Stroganoff

Submitted by: HIMELISSA2007

Introduction

You can use whole wheat pasta if you desire but I used enriched pasta this time. I use white flour for a thickening agent but there are others that are lower calorie. I used a little evaporated milk and added nonfat milk to keep the fat content down and keep the flavor. This was a recipe to make my family content and it was a hit. Ingredients

    1 lb. thawed ground turkey
    4 oz. evaporated milk
    1 cup nonfat milk
    1/4 c. margarine 40% fat
    3 chicken bouillon cubes
    4 oz.water
    1 Tbsp. garlic powder
    1 Tbsp. onion powder
    1 tsp. black pepper
    1 tsp. cayenne
1 16 oz. pkg. of Rotini(or pasta desired)

Directions

Boil pasta in large 4-6 quart pan, add a tsp of olive oil to prevent sticking and a dash of salt so pasta will be tender. Follow box directions for boiling time. mine took about 12 minutes. Drain, put on the side.

Begin meat mixture. Put margarine into deep skillet or deep pan on burner at medium heat. Add 4 oz. water and bouillon cubes. cook until bouillon cubes dissolve. Add turkey and spices. Stir. Cook turkey about 5 minutes in pan. Stir again.

Add 4 oz. evaporated milk. Add 1 cup of nonfat milk. Let it cook until it warms again and turkey is thoroughly cooked.
Lower temperature slightly. Take 1/2 cup flour in a small bowl and mix with 3 ounces of water until flour dissolves in bowl. Add fluid to meat mixture. Stir slowly for 5 minutes so sauce will thicken.

You are now ready to add cooked pasta, stir together and enjoy!!! Makes 12 -1 cup servings
