Number of Servings: 12

Ingredients

8 cups cubed, day old potato bread or raisin bread
    9 eggs
2 1/4 cups 1/2% milk (original recipe used whole -- not used here)
1 3/4 cups heavy whipping cream
    1 cup sugar
    3/4 cup butter, melted
    3 teaspoons vanilla extract
    1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    Caramel Sauce:
    1 cup sugar
    1/4 cup water
    1 tablespoon lemon juice
    2 tablespoons butter
    1 cup heavy whipping cream

Directions

Place bread cubes in a sprayed 13x9 baking dish. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, butter, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour over bread. Allow to stand 20 minutes. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Let stand five minutes before cutting.
Meanwhile, using a small sauce pan, bring the sugar, lemon and water to a boil. Reduce heat to medium. Cook until sugar is dissolved and mixture turns a golden amber color. Stir in butter until melted. Add cream. Remove from heat. Serve over the bread pudding. Serves: 12
